Geopolitics & Value

There are many factors that influence value of real estate assets. Broadly speaking, one of the most influential is government intervention through legislative policy. A subset of this government oversight is geopolitics. Never has geopolitics been more at the forefront then it is at this point in the world economy. Uncertainty in valuation can take on many forms. On the surface it would appear obvious that uncertainty translates into reduced valuations. However, some asset classes benefit from uncertainty while others are not impacted. The common thread is that being less sure of what the future holds may create volatility. A respected American Journalist Mr. Fareed Zakaria gives his perspective on this through the upcoming U.S. election amid the current Trump administration.
